Candidates must be willing to work at any location within the selected region, including but not limited to: Southeast Region: Homestead, FL; Aguadilla, PR Southwest Region: Tucson, AZ; Yuma, AZ; San Diego, CA; El Paso, TX; Laredo, TX; McAllen, TX NASOC UAS locations: Sierra Vista, AZ; San Angelo, TX Duties and Responsibilities Duties As an Air Interdiction Agent (AIA), you will conduct aviation-based law enforcement operations to detect, prevent, interdict, and apprehend terrorists, weapons, contraband, and persons attempting to illegally enter or attack the U.S. Typical duties include: Conducting air patrols, surveillance, and pursuits related to interdiction of smuggled contraband via land, air, or sea. Monitoring suspect behaviors and activities. Collecting, analyzing, and refining intelligence to support operations. Supporting search and rescue and humanitarian missions is also part of the role. Salary and Benefits Starting salaries range from $106,000 to $127,000 annually, depending on qualifications, duty location, and overtime pay (up to 25%). Compensation includes SSR, LEAP, recruitment and retention incentives. Career progression moves through GS-11, GS-12, and GS-13 grades, with automatic promotions possible after 52 weeks at each level. Examples of first-year total compensation at various locations are provided, with additional incentives for specific sites. Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, paid leave, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan. Qualifications Experience: One year of professional aviation experience, such as: Pilot-in-Command or sole manipulator in aircraft or helicopter, including night and poor weather operations. Rapid decision-making and strategic planning skills. Experience with information systems and databases. Minimum Requirements Certifications & Ratings: FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with specific ratings or equivalent military ratings. Flight Hours: Minimum 1500 flight hours, with up to 500 hours waived; specific hours in Pilot-in-Command, instrument, and night flying are required. UAS flight hours may be credited towards total hours but not towards other specific hours. Other Requirements Must be a U.S. citizen with at least three years of primary U.S. residency in the past five years. Age restrictions apply, with a temporary increase to age 40 for initial appointments. Veterans' preference and medical requirements are also specified. Position may require travel and training completion.
