Job Requisition Title: Senior Data Pipeline Developer Databricks

Clearance: Active IRS MBI (or higher) Required

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Data Pipeline Developers to architect, build, and maintain robust data ingestion and transformation pipelines for the IRS Enterprise Data Platform. These are Key Personnel positions on a high profile modernization effort supporting near real time access to mission critical tax data.

Key Responsibilities Area Duties Pipeline Development

• Design and develop end to end ELT/ETL pipelines in Databricks (PySpark/ SQL) following medallion architecture
• Build data products feeding analytical, transactional, and API stores (AWS RDS Postgres, Redshift, DynamoDB). Data Modeling
• Create logical & physical data models; optimize for performance, partitioning, and cost efficiency. Data Integration & Load
• Ingest structured, semi structured, and unstructured data from legacy mainframe (COBOL/JCL/DB2), on prem Informatica, EFTU, AWS DMS, and other IRS sources. Code Quality & Testing
• Develop unit, integration, performance, and 508 compliance tests; automate CI/CD in Bitbucket. Security & Compliance
• Implement encryption, IAM, and UNAX controls; provide artifacts for OneSDLC, FISMA, and IRS IRM 10.8 requirements. Documentation & Transition
• Author OneSDLC deliverables, deployment scripts, and knowledge transfer materials; support O&M and incident response (24 7 rotation). Collaboration
• Coordinate with Architects, Platform/DevOps team, and IRS stakeholders; mentor junior engineers

Minimum Qualifications

Clearance: Active IRS MBI (or higher)

8+ years in data engineering; 3+ years hands on Databricks (Spark), including Delta Lake.

Technical Stack: Databricks (Jobs, Workflows, Delta Live Tables, Unity Catalog) AWS (S3, EMR, Glue, DynamoDB, RDS Postgres, Redshift) Python/PySpark, SQL, PL/SQL CI/CD Bitbucket, Jenkins, Terraform/CloudFormation (IAC) Data governance & catalog tools (Immuta, Informatica EDC/Axon)

Data Modeling : Star/Snowflake, Data Vault, JSON/Parquet/Avro. SDLC: Agile/Scrum, OneSDLC or comparable federal lifecycle. Testing: pytest, Spark unit testing, performance tuning, 508 compliance.

Preferred:

Prior IRS or Treasury experience.

Certifications: Databricks Certified Data Engineer Professional; AWS Solutions Architect/Developer; SAFe or PMP. Kafka/Kinesis streaming familiarity (future roadmap).

Education

Bachelor s in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (Master s a plus)
