The Stanford Prevention Research Center (SPRC)is a consortium of renowned experts who are world leaders in investigating ways to prevent disease and promote health. Their work is focused on identifying the most practical, science-based solutions for addressing some of society's most pervasive and preventable health issues, such as obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic conditions and to raise the standards of scientific investigation that matters for health. SPRC investigators are collaborating on numerous, long-term projects designed to translate research into effective ways to promote well-being at every stage of life.
The Sexual and Gender Minority Health Equity Laboratory conducts multiple clinical trials and observational research studies to improve the health of LGBTQIA+ people, we implement training programs for junior faculty and undergraduates interested in enhancing their skills in conducting LGBTQIA+ research, and we collect other data to better understand the health of LGBTQIA+ communities.
The Sexual and Gender Minority Health Equity Laboratory is seeking a Research Manager. The research manager position requires organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. In addition, the successful candidate must possess an amiable, open-minded and nonjudgmental manner, and consistently demonstrate interpersonal tact, discretion, and sensitivity when interacting with study participants and other collaborators. These different job aspects are unique processes requiring specific experience and skill sets, and the research manager must blend and balance all areas to ensure the successful completion of research objectives.
This position is eligible for hybrid work.
**Duties include:**
+ Assist in designing experiments, exercising independent initiative and judgment gained from completing a variety of high level assignments, including activities such as defining variables, formulating hypotheses, and selecting subjects, sources of information, or planned and coordinating experimental protocols.
+ Adapt or work out the details of new, nonstandard procedures, with the supervisor providing general guidance and suggestions.
+ Interpret, synthesize, and analyze data using scientific or statistical techniques.
+ Solve problems, and make decisions that affect the direction of the research and result in independent contributions to the overall project.
+ Co-author sections of research publications and regulatory reports as needed.
+ Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities of a limited scope as needed.
+ Supervise staff or students as needed, including oversight and instruction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work.
**DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Demonstrates ability to analyze, research and synthesize large amounts of data with strong attention to detail.- Knowledge/experience with institutional review boards and demonstrated experience working within study procedures.- Ability to work in statistical software (Stata and/or R preferred), executing analyses, data merges, and creating data visualization products, read Phyton code.- Excellent, effective verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with participants, team members, other departments and outside institutions.- Skills to communicate complex information in a clear and concise manner both verbally and in writing.- Knowledge/experience in drafting scientific manuscripts.- Knowledge/experience in drafting progress reports and data-based reports.- Knowledge/experience with qualitative research methods, including interviewing and analysis.- Ability to program instruments in Qualtrics and REDCap (data capture systems).- Knowledge and capability communicating with LGBTQIA+ research participants- Knowledge of and capability to communicate with participants who use substances or have experienced trauma or other mental health difficulties.- Knowledge of genomics research methodologies.
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):**
+ Bachelor of Arts degree in an applicable social science related field and two years applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant experience in an applicable social science.

+ General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs.
+ Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.

+ Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
+ Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
+ Ability to work with human study participants.
+ Developing supervisory skills.
**PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:**
+ Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
+ Occasionally stand/walk, sit, use a telephone, writing by hand, and sort/file paperwork or parts.
+ Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, rarely reach/work above shoulders, and operates foot and/or hand controls.
**WORKING CONDITIONS:**
+ May be exposed to blood borne pathogens.
+ May be required to work non-standard, extended or weekend hours in support of research work.

**The expected pay range for this position is $81,130, to $94,895 per annum.**
