Job Description

At McGee Air Services, safety is more than a priority. It is a core value that shapes how we train, lead, and operate. The Instructional Designer supports this by creating learning experiences that build the knowledge, skills, and confidence our team members need to work safely and effectively.

This role leads the full instructional design lifecycle, from needs analysis to evaluation, with a focus on performance-driven training that supports business goals. It spans multiple formats including computer-based training, instructor-led sessions, job aids, quick reference guides, and on-the-job programs.

By applying adult learning principles and structured models such as ADDIE, the Instructional Designer ensures training is purposeful, measurable, and relevant to daily operations. Strong project management skills are essential to lead initiatives from start to finish. This includes defining scope, identifying stakeholders, managing communication and change plans, and ensuring timely delivery. The role also supports agile or iterative development methods to quickly design, test, and refine solutions based on real-time feedback and operational needs.

The Instructional Designer works closely with frontline leaders, safety and compliance teams, and subject matter experts to create training rooted in real operational needs and a strong culture of safety.

  • Create engaging, high-quality content across formats (eLearning, ILT, job aids, OJT) that supports safe and effective operations.
  • Define learning objectives and performance outcomes in collaboration with operations, safety, and subject matter experts.
  • Apply adult learning principles to develop training aligned with McGee’s safety standards and operational goals.
  • Manage project timelines, stakeholder input, and implementation plans to ensure timely, effective delivery.
  • Continuously improve training through feedback, performance data, and stakeholder reviews.
  • Facilitate or support train-the-trainer sessions and occasional instructor-led training.
  • Travel as needed to gather content and validate training in live operational settings.
  • Support a high-performance culture that reflects McGee’s values of Safety, Service, Integrity, Mutual Respect, Accountability, and Pride.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 1 year of experience designing eLearning and instructor-led training using adult learning principles and instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE).
  • Demonstrated ability to create clear learning objectives, structure training content, and develop supporting materials such as facilitator guides, job aids, and assessments.
  • Skilled in graphic design, videography, and photography, with a strong understanding of corporate branding, visual consistency, and current design standards in learning and development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
