The Associate Commercial Underwriter role is a hybrid position located in either our Monterey or Roseville, CA. office.
Under direct supervision, this position will perform entry-level underwriting duties in support of a regional underwriting team. The Associate Underwriter will perform the preliminary review of new risks as well as assist in the renewal process for existing accounts. General duties will include the evaluation of applications, endorsements, and related underwriting documents. The Associate will review individual Commercial or Farm Lines submissions to evaluate the degree of exposure and approve, request additional information, or reject based on Company risk selection guidelines. This position functions in a production support role, but may be called upon to conduct agency visits, develop new business, and support marketing in a territory of assigned agents. The Associate Underwriter operates within a clearly defined level of delegated underwriting authority and refers risks of higher exposure or complexity to a senior underwriter. The position may also perform ancillary administrative duties for commercial or farm line accounts to support agency service objectives.
Knowledge of commercial lines underwriting principals, manuals and rating plans
Ability to evaluate new & renewal business to determine acceptability, pricing, and adherence to company underwriting guidelines
Familiar with property, general liability, auto and umbrella coverage
College degree (or equivalent experience) with a minimum of 2 years of underwriting or agency experience preferred
Commitment to continuing education; i.e. CPCU, AU, ARM, CRM, or CIC
Salary Range: $46,918 - $77,561
